Day 10

My days have been extended to Day 21!

This manuscript I'm reading is around 700 pages. I'm 50 pages in and there's already been a murdered baby. And it's all in very medieval language, but... did they really used to use the term "shit-house"?

I highly recommend the movie Up. Go see it! Or buy it on DVD.

  1. Why Up? Not in a philosophical sense you understand - why should we see it?

  2. I'm not telling! I saw it without reading anything about it or even knowing what it was -- you should too!

    (It's very funny)

  3. Classy film- the first 20 minutes near brought a tear to this most masculine of eyes. Good to hear of your extension. Out of curiousity, what all are you doing with the manuscripts? Making editing suggestions, chucking them to the slush pile, or what?

  4. I've only done one, and it was a case of answering the author's questions. (E.g. "did that work? How 'bout this?" etc.) Though I might be reading another one, and this time I'd be writing up a full manuscript report so that the ed. department knows whether or not they should read it (and therefore consider it) themselves.

  5. Do you ever get to say "whoah, eeenormous plot hole on page 247, and the rest is slightly lame, except that chapter where it's really confusing." when you're doing author feedback?

  6. And 'Up' is well worth seeing. Very very good but gets a bit conventional in the middle, whereas 'Cloudy With.... Meatballs" is quite surreal in the middle and very funny, with an equally good script.
